# About Wardcote

> Who Wardcote is, who carries out reviews, and how it works with security companies.

Wardcote helps the people who run venues, events, schools, churches and corporate sites prepare to look after the people in their care.

- Reviews are carried out by members of a team whose backgrounds include counter-terrorism policing, the Royal Marines, and early-years and family therapy, working with Wardcote. They are introduced before they visit.
- Where security teams or door supervision are needed, Wardcote introduces a security company whose staff hold SIA licences, which contracts with the venue directly.
- Martyn’s Law is named after Martyn Hett, one of 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena attack on 22 May 2017. His mother, Figen Murray, campaigned for the law so that venues would be better prepared.
- Every guidance page cites the official source and states what the law requires, and no more.
