About Wardcote
Calm, practical security.
We help the people who run venues, events, schools, churches and corporate sites prepare to look after the people in their care.
Who you’re working with
Reviews are carried out by members of a team we work with, whose backgrounds include counter-terrorism policing, the Royal Marines, and early-years and family therapy. Where you need security teams or door supervision, we introduce you to a security company whose staff hold SIA licences, which contracts with you directly. You always know who is coming before they arrive.
Martyn’s Law
On 22 May 2017, 22 people were killed and hundreds more injured at the end of a concert at Manchester Arena. Martyn Hett, 29, was one of them.
His mother, Figen Murray, spent years campaigning so that the places where people gather would be better prepared. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law, is the result.
At its heart, the law asks something simple: that the people running a venue have thought ahead. If something happens, staff and volunteers should know how to get people out, how to keep them safe inside, how to lock down, and how to tell everyone what to do. Clear procedures, practised calmly, help staff respond quickly and reduce harm in those first few minutes.
For most venues, that means a few straightforward procedures and making sure the team knows them. Larger venues and events have more to do.
How we help
We’ll help you work out which parts of the law apply to you, and support you through the rest, at whatever pace suits your venue.
Our standard
Every guidance page cites the official source. We state what the law requires, and no more.
